But change is desperately needed with the Argentine getting his side to Madrid despite an astonishing amount of injuries this campaign, which has seen 10 players absent in five or more games at least once.Meanwhile they have also suffered from a lack of depth, especially in midfield, after the sale of Mousa Dembele.The fact they’re now facing Liverpool in Madrid is a minor miracle, but before they even get to the Spanish capital it seems Spurs are getting ready to splash the cash and improve their squad.This week former star Gareth Bale and Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon have both been linked with transfers this summer.

Gareth BaleSome might not think it would be a good idea to go back for a former player, especially when he’s being turfed out of a club like he is at Real Madrid but it’s move which could happen.According to The Sun, the Spanish giants have offered the Welshman back to the north London side – but only on loan.Spurs are unwilling to do a permanent deal but have talked about a temporary one, so it could work, with 10million covering half the player’s wage for the season.5

Bale is being forced out with Zinedine Zidane set to snap up Chelsea ace Eden Hazard his replacement in an 86million deal, handing the Belgian a 400,000 a week salary.Fans at the Bernabeu are also keen on Bale leaving having jeered him at every opportunity this season.Ryan SessegnonWith no new deal for the wonderkid, set to turn 19, Spurs might be able to land him for a bargain 25million, report The Sun.The north Londoners were quoted around 50million for the left-sided star last summer but any fee will now be significantly reduced with the Cottagers relegated and Sessegnon into the final year on his contract.5

Sessegnon has looked good in tough circumstances this season

Whether it’s as a full-back, or as a winger, the England youth international is a serious talent, managing two goals and six assists as the Cottagers struggled.Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are almost rumoured to be keen on Sessegnon but the player himself is keen on moving to Spurs.

How could Tottenham line-up

Pochettino has been fond of narrow formations this season, with varying degrees of success, and it could work with Bale and Sessegnon.If the Welshman returns, he’s most likely to occupy a role on the right flank, a position which has need some depth for Spurs given only Lucas Moura looks in anyway natural there.Here, Bale can cut in and deliver the curling strikes he was fondly remembered for at White Hart Lane, while he can also come narrow to combine with Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane if Kieran Trippier gets forward.5
