Tottenham stadium update: Premier League club confirm at least four more games to be played at Wembley as delays continue
Tottenham have confirmed they will play their next four games at Wembley as delays to the redeveloped White Hart Lane continue.The national stadium, home to Spurs since last season, will now host the Premier League matches against Watford (30 January), Newcastle United (2 February) and Leicester City (10 February) as well as the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund (13 February).2

Tottenham will remain at Wembley until March

If Spurs were to win at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fourth round on 26 January and are drawn at home, then this would also be played at Wembley.“The past month has seen remedial works take place, software issues resolved and corrected safety equipment installations increase. Testing has also continued,” the club said.“We are now liaising with the contractors and building control at Haringey Council to determine a schedule of commissioning, building test dates and building control sign-offs, along with formal test event dates.”Spurs have also confirmed fans will be refunded for the three Premier League matches and all three games can be purchased together in one transaction. They have also been given category C pricing, with a 51,000-capacity cap applying.2

In a statement, chairman Daniel Levy said: “I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience.“The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone. We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks. The club’s first home game in March is the north London derby against Arsenal, but that is also unlikely to be played at the new stadium for safety reasons.Spurs were originally due to move into their new home for the start of the new season before putting that back to September.The club remain confident that they will move into their new 62,000-seat arena this season, with the home game against Crystal Palace in the middle of March the targeted new date for its opening.
