Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has urged his old club to sign Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.The 30-year-old is about to enter the final year of his contract after Spurs triggered an extension clause in his contract in January.2

Reports suggest Alderweireld has a 25million release clause and its activation seems inevitable given his quality.And ex-Reds full-back Nicol, who made 473 appearances for the club between 1981 and 1994, reckons the Belgium international would thrive alongside Virgil van Dijk.He said: One hundred per cent this guys going. We just dont know where it is.Again, this is a player who I think most teams in the world would want as their centre-back.2
